IndyCar Drivers, 2 Indy Lights Teams to Test at Gateway on Tuesday

INDIANAPOLIS – It’s officially the Month of May, but before we see any cars on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, they first will be making a stop at the Gateway Motorsports Park.

On Tuesday, all 21 Verizon IndyCar Series drivers as well as two Indy Lights Series teams will test at Gateway in preparation for the inaugural August 26 Bommarito Automotive Group 500 Presented By Valvoline. The test will run from 12-3 pm locally (1-4 pm ET) and 4:30-7:30 pm locally (5:30-8:30 pm ET). Indy Lights teams will test at 10:45 a.m. (11:45 am ET) and again at 3:15 p.m (4:15 pm ET).

This will be the second test on the track, as several teams too part in a tire test there last Fall.

Spectator grandstand gates will open at 11 a.m. Adult spectator grandstand admission is $20. Kids 15 and under are free. Parking is free.

Two Indy Lights teams will be on hand to test for Cooper Tire: Shelby Blackstock (Belardi Auto Racing) and Juan Piedrahita (Team Pelfrey).


Tuesday, May 2

11 a.m. — Spectator grandstand gates open.

Noon-3 p.m. — INDYCAR test session.

3:15-4:15 p.m. — Indy Lights/Cooper Tire test session.

4:30-7:30 p.m. — INDYCAR test session.
