The day has finally come for Fernando Alonso to test his No. 29 Honda that he will drive in this month’s 101st Running of the Indianapolis 500 at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Wednesday. The test will run from 9 am to 5 pm ET, with having a break for lunch from 12-1 pm ET. Marco Andretti, will hop in the car first and shake the car down, before Alonso will get behind the wheel of a Verizon IndyCar Series machine for the first time ever.
Alonso, has won two Formula One championships, but now he has his sights set on a dream run at Indy.
Fans will be able to attend the test for free, as like always, they can sit on the Turn 2 spectator mounts, IMS Museum parking lot, or the South Terrace infield grandstands.
There will be a live-show showcasing the test produced by IMS/IndyCar from 9:30 a.m. – noon, with Kevin Lee, Mario Andretti and Robin Miller being the broadcasters on it. The test will also be live-streamed from 1-5 p.m. Link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?

Also, while we’re on break for lunch, Alexander Rossi will be presented his ring for winning last year’s Indianapolis 500. IMS President J. Douglas Boles and Ken Keltner of Herff Jones will present the ring to Rossi. Andretti Autosport CEO & Chairman Michael Andretti and Bryan Herta Autosport owner Bryan Herta also will be on hand for the event.
