It’s strange to that that we’re seven races into the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season, and Kevin Harvick has yet to win a race so far. Harvick, by far was the top driver to beat at Atlanta in the second race of the season back in early March, but a pit road speeding penalty with 15 laps-to-go ruined that. He really hasn’t been that close since that race outside of a fourth place finish in the last race at Texas.
Other than that, Harvick has no other top five finishes this season.
He’s finished 22nd, ninth, 38th, sixth, 13th, 20th and fourth respectively this year. Despite not winning a race yet, he has led the most laps among all Cup drivers with 419 circuits led in 2017. Will he finally lead the last one of a race?
That could happen this weekend.
Harvick, won the last time out at Bristol last August, and combine that with his second place run in the Summer race in 2015, Harvick has two top two finishes in his last three Bristol starts. That with a fourth place run in his last race of the year combined with being the season lap leader, could translate into a Harvick victory Sunday at the Bristol Motor Speedway.
The only drawback is, outside of his three straight top 10 finishes at Bristol, Harvick one top 10 in the 13 races prior to that there. Now, the question has to come up, which car will show up for Harvick on Sunday?
