For 2nd Straight Year Erik Jones Wins XFINITY Seies Race at Bristol

Erik Jones is a man on a mission in NASCAR XFINITY Series action. He won the race last weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway as well as the race last spring at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Today, he went two straight in each.

Erik Jones wins at Bristol

Jones, took the lead with 20 laps remaining in the rain-interrupted Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 and held on in the XFINITY Series win at the .533-mile Tennessee oval.

Rookie Daniel Hemric claimed the Dash 4 Cash prize in the second of four races in the series, earning a $100,000 bonus as the highest finisher among Dash 4 Cash-eligible drivers.

Jones, the defending race winner, took the lead from Ryan Blaney by bumping him out of the way as the race wound down following two red flags that included a 1 hour, 38 minute rain delay that began on Lap 162.

Blaney, finished second in the No. 22 Ford. Rounding out the top five were Daniel Suarez in the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, Elliott Sadler in the No. 1 JR Motorsports Chevrolet, and Hemric in the No. 21 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet

The race was divided into three stages, with Kyle Larson capturing the Stage 1 win for leading at Lap 85, and Hemric grabbing the Stage 2 win for leading at Lap 170.

Larson won the first stage win under caution when the yellow flag came out on Lap 79 for Ryan Reed crashing into the outside wall and losing his right front tire.

Daniel Hemric took Stage 2 when he made the gamble to stay out on older tires after most other cars pitted following the extended rain delay.

This was the second Dash 4 Cash race of the four-race series, with the top two eligible drivers at the end of each stage advancing for the opportunity to win $100,000 in the final stage.

Cole Custer and Justin Allgaier were eligible for Dash 4 Cash after Stage 1; Hemric and Brendan Gaughan were eligible after Stage 2.

Gaughan was forced from the race on Lap 243 when his car spun and crashed into the interior wall. A little while later, Custer made contact with the No. 33 of Brandon Jones, and damage eventually forced him out on Lap 261.

Allgaier was the first Dash 4 Cash winner at Phoenix earlier this season. Remaining Dash 4 Cash races are at Richmond and Dover.
