Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 Will be 2,500th Cup Race

Hampton, GA – When the green flag drops on Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, it would mark the start of the 2,500th Cup race. The first event was help at Charlotte on Sunday, June 19, 1949 in a race which was won by Jim Roper. He drove a Lincoln that day.

The last race run was on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017 at Daytona with Kurt Busch taking his No. 41 Ford to victory lane. Now, we’ve made it to a historical number with 2,500 taking place on Sunday afternoon at the 1.54-mile Georgia track.
