Kyle Busch Wins Rinnai 250 XFINITY Series Race in Atlanta

Hampton, GA – Kyle Busch capitalized when Clint King’s engine expired with 21 laps-to-go in Saturday’s Rinnai 250 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Busch, was running second at the time as leader Kyle Larson had checked out from the field. But, with the caution flying and each team having one set of tires left, everyone hit pit road one lap later.

Busch’s Joe Gibbs Racing pit crew had a blazing quick stop and got him out first with 20 laps-to-go in the second race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season. He would reinherit the lead as a result and never look back en route to his second straight victory at Atlanta and 87th of his XFINITY Series career.

Busch, started on the pole and led the first six laps before Brad Keselowski passed him for the lead entering Turn 3. He wouldn’t lead again until that final pit stop as it wasn’t the typical dominating Busch performance on Saturday.

Keselowski, who led from Lap 7 though the midway mark of the second stage, finished runner-up in his No. 22 Ford on Saturday. The Team Penske driver won the first stage of the day and led 53 laps.

Larson, would settle for third in his No. 42 Chevrolet while Kevin Harvick who led a race-high 64 of the 163 Laps and won the second stage would finish second while Elliott Sadler rounded out the top five.

Today’s race was much more cleaner than the demolition derby at Daytona last weekend. There were only five cautions on the day for just 26 laps, but only three of them were for on track incidents. Ty Dillon spun in Turn 2 on Lap 2 and collected Blake Koch as a result. The next caution for an incident came when Denny Hamlin spun with 46 to go with a flat tire.

Then, the final yellow flew with King’s issue with 21 to go.

The series now heads west with running at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway next Saturday afternoon at 4 pm ET on FS1.
