Kevin Harvick has had some bad luck this season. He was caught up in a crash at Daytona and finished 22nd. He led nearly the entire race at Atlanta before a pit road speeding penalty occurred with 15 laps-to-go and relegated him to a ninth place effort. At Las Vegas, he was running in the top five before a cut tire forced him into the wall with a 38th place finish. Then, last weekend at Phoenix, he wasn’t his usual self there and finished sixth after starting 23rd.
Now, he’s hoping that luck turns this weekend at Fontana.
Harvick, has two straight second place finishes at the Auto Club Speedway including leading 142 of the 205 laps there a year ago. If you go back to 2009, Harvick has had seven top 10’s in his last nine Fontana starts including four top two finishes in those races.
Can he keep that strong streak going another year?
Better yet, can he turn those finishes into a win and become our fifth different race winner in as many races this year?
To me, he’s going to be right up there in the running to win this weekend. Fords have shown the most speed out of the gates to the 2017 season, and with that speed and Fontana being a wide track promoting a ton of horsepower, Harvick’s Stewart-Haas Racing Ford has to be among the ones to beat this weekend.
