Brad Keselowski Wins Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 in Atlanta

Hampton, GA – Kevin Harvick was by far the most dominating driver all day in the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. Harvick, easily won the first two stages of the race and was in command when it counted at the end. He would exit pit road with 15 laps-to-go on the races final stop of the day in the end.

One problem, he was the record setting 10th speeding penalty of the day.

Harvick, was caught speeding which meant he had to give up the lead and go to the tail end of the longest line. He would finish ninth after leading a race-high 293 of the 325 laps on Sunday at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. It was the fourth straight year he’d lead the most laps at Atlanta but not win.

Kyle Larson and Brad Keselowski were there to capitalize as a result.

Larson, inherited the lead and would try to hold off Keselowski in the end. Instead, Keselowski who overcame pit issues of his own powered his No. 2 Ford by Larson with six laps-to-go and never look back en route to his 22nd career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series victory.

Keselowski, had a right front tire go down in the second stage which threw him off sequence. He’d work back to the front but then with 61 to go, his crew didn’t get all the lugnuts tightened which meant despite having the lead, he’d have to come back down pit road to fix it.

The Team Penske driver would restart the race outside the top 10. But, that wouldn’t keep him down as he’d rally back to the front and put himself in position to win in the end.

Larson, would finish second while Matt Kenseth who overcame two early pit road speeding penalties finished third. Two Hendrick Motorsports cars in Kasey Kahne and Chase Elliott would round out the top five in finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

Like last year, there were very few yellows today. Through the first two stages, the only cautions were for the end of each stage. Overall, there were just six cautions overall for 32 laps.

The series heads west for the next three weeks for their west coast swing beginning with a race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway next weekend (3:30 p.m. ET/FOX/PRN).
