With Friday Being a Washout, X-Finity Race Moved to Sunday, Lineup Set by Practice Speed

CONCORD, NC – Hurricane Matthew wrecked its havoc on the eastern seaboard on Friday as remnants of the storm found its way into inland North Carolina as a result. With that being said, rain was forecasted all day Friday and into Saturday as well. NASCAR made the call to cancel all on track activity at the Charlotte Motor Speedway today which in turn means the NASCAR X-Finity Series qualifying and race was moved too.

First, X-Finity Series qualifying was cancelled and the lineup will be set by yesterday’s practice speeds. Then, the race was moved to 11 a.m. ET on Sunday on NBCSN.

Luckily, all the drivers got two separate practice sessions on Thursday, so the only thing rained out was just qualifying.

The race is the final event of the first round as the top eight drivers in the Chase standings leaving Charlotte on Sunday will advance to Round 2.
