DOVER, DE – Unfortunately, rain has been the story of the weekend so far at the Dover International Speedway. On Friday, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying was rained out as was the second half of final NASCAR X-Finity Series practice. On Saturday, the first Sprint Cup practice was run but interrupted by rain as was the X-Finity Series qualifying.
That’s all that occurred on the “Monster Mile” on Saturday, as a nagging mist hung around all Saturday afternoon canceling the final Sprint Cup practice session and the 200 Lap X-Finity Series race today.
The rain is wrecking havoc on the teams as both series’ have really only got just a little over one full practice session in this weekend. Now, they will have to host a doubleheader tomorrow as the X-Finity Series race will go green at 10:03 a.m. ET on CNBC, only to see the final race of the opening round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup run at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
Hopefully, with rain to be between 30-50 percent on Sunday afternoon, we can get both races in.
