Daniel Suarez Wins Rain Delayed X-Finity Series Race in Dover

DOVER, DE – It’s fitting that the top two drivers in the NASCAR X-Finity Series regular season points standings end up with the first two wins of the inaugural Chase, as Elliott Sadler was victorious in last weekend’s race at Kentucky while Daniel Suarez took the checkered flag first in Sunday’s rain delayed Drive Sober 200 at the Dover International Speedway.

Sadler and Suarez were 1-2 respectively in the regular season, and now both have automatically advanced to the second round of the Chase by virtue of their wins in the last two weeks.

For Suarez though, Sunday was his second career X-Finity Series victory, as he last went to victory lane at Michigan 14 races ago in June. He led a race high 123 of the 200 laps on Sunday en route to the dominating victory in his No. 19 Toyota.

Today was also Suarez’ sixth straight top 10 as he’s had five top fives in those events.

Justin Allgaier brought his No. 7 Chevrolet home second for his third top five in the last four races and 12th top 10 in the last 12 races as well as his 15th top 11 in the last 16 races dating back to Michigan in June.

Ty Dillon came home third in his No. 3 Chevrolet for his first top five in the last seven races.

Ryan Blaney started 37th in filling in for Joey Logano today and came home fourth while Alex Bowman rounded out the top five with his third top five of the season.
