After missing the last few races with concussion like symptoms, John Wes Townley will return to racing this weekend at the Pocono Raceway. Townley, will race in both the ARCA Series race as well as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at the 2.5-mile Pennsylvania track this weekend, as they will be his first two races in over a month.
Townley, issued a statement on Tuesday thanking everyone for their help in his absence.
“I’d like to thank Parker Kligerman, Cole Custer and Brady Boswell for filling in for me,” Townley said. “I feel great and I’m looking forward to racing at Pocono this week.”
The 26-year old suffered the mild concussion in two crashes at Gateway back at the end of June, and hasn’t raced since. In that race, he got into a fight with Spencer Gallagher in Turn 1 when the two collided for a second time during the race.
The fight was shown on all the national news stations and got a lot of flack for being one of the all-time worst fights.
Unfortunately, Townley was sidelined after that as this weekend will be his first race back.
