Kyle Busch won at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2006 but it was nine years before he could get back to victory lane there, as Busch won last July’s race at the “Magic Mile.” Now, he’s hoping for his second victory at the New Hampshire track in three races as he enters this weekend’s race among the favorites.
Busch, has four top two finishes at New Hampshire in his last six starts there. Those though, are his only top fives there since 2009 as his success lately is all recent.
But, Busch is still struggling a bit despite his runner-up finish in the Coke Zero 400 two weeks ago. That second place effort and a seventh the week prior at Sonoma are his only two top 10 finishes in his last seven starts.
To only have two top 10’s since mid-May is rare for Busch, as he’s looking to put an exclamation point on this dismal streak as a win this weekend would certainly do that.
He just needs to get back to his early season dominance.
Busch, started off the year hot with nine top fives in his first 11 starts. During those 11 races, he had three wins and two runner-ups as he was clearly the best driver at the early stages of this year’s season.
Now, it’s time to get back to that and why not allow that to happen at a track he’s been so good at?
I’d say Busch is due for a top five this weekend and could realistically happen.
