Belle Isle, MI- It’s hard to believe, but as the checkered flag flew on the second Chevrolet Dual in Detroit today, the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series season is already halfway over. Yes, it’s only the beginning of June, but as we sit here today, we’re exactly halfway through the 2016 season with eight races down and eight more to go.
Luckily, the season doesn’t end until mid-September, as we still have three months to go before the checkered flag falls for the final time in this 2016 campaign, but only eight races will make up that three month span, as it starts next Saturday night at the Texas Motor Speedway.
From there, it’s a week off, then to the return trip to Road America, then another week off again before heading to Iowa Speedway. After Iowa, we go to the streets of Toronto the very next week then have another week off before going to Mid-Ohio at the end of July.
From there, it really gets spread out as there’s three weeks off before the race at Pocono then a week off again before heading back to Watkins Glen. Then, it’s the season finale at Sonoma on Sept. 18.
That’s the rest of the schedule as it will all air on NBCSN as ABC aired their final two races of the season this weekend. Now, every IndyCar event the rest of the way in 2016 can be found on NBCSN.
It’s hard to believe we’re already through the first half though as well as the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 as we’re now in the thick of things for who’s going to win this year’s 2016 championship.
