INDIANAPOLIS – Entering this weekend’s third annual Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis, one driver that comes to mind that will be the sleeper in the entire weekend, will certainly be Sebastien Bourdais. Yes, the Team Penske and Chip Ganassi Racing drivers will steal the limelight as the popular picks to win this Saturday’s 82 Lap race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but Bourdais is actually one driver that could come in a steal away a victory this weekend.
In fact, the KVSH Racing driver is one of only two drivers to finish inside the top five in both races on the road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as the Frenchman came home fourth in both tries
Why not a win in his third try this year?
In fact, Bourdais has been quietly strong all year, and if not for contact with Scott Dixon on the opening lap of the last race at Barber, he would have probably been in the running for the win in the Honda Indy Alabama Grand Prix on April 24.
Bourdais had a really fast car at Barber all weekend long, as the Alabama road course mirrors Indy as far as being fast, smooth and giving similar setups. If Bourdais was good there and has been stellar at Indy in the two year history of the event, that tells me he’s going to be strong again this weekend.
This could be the race that gets Bourdais out of his slump, as he has just two top 10’s in his last seven starts dating back to last season. I have a feeling the third comes on Saturday afternoon.
