INDIANAPOLIS – For the second consecutive year, Scott Dixon will have the Coca-Cola colors on his No. 9 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet during the Barber Motorsports Park weekend. Last year, Dixon unveiled one of the coolest paint schemes with the bright red and white Coke colors for the 2015 Honda Indy Alabama.
On Wednesday, his team released what the colors will look like this year as the Coca-Cola colors will be music themed this weekend.
The soda company is bringing back its “Share a Coke” marketing campaign, which the last two years focused on putting names on packaging and this year will transition to running lyrics from around 70 approved songs.
The No. 9 car, driven by Scott Dixon, will feature the classic red Coca-Cola logo alongside a volume dial to the left of one of the mirrors, a mock turntable on the rear wing, earbuds by the cockpit and black and red “flowing bands” plastered horizontally along the length of the car.
Dixon, has a great chance to put Coca-Cola in victory lane at Barber, as the New Zealand native enters this weekend second in the Verizon IndyCar Series points standings after finishes of seventh, first and second in three races this year.
Furhermore, Dixon has six podiums in as many tries at Barber as he came home second in the first four years of this races existence followed by two straight third place finishes the last two years.
With Dixon running so well entering this weekend with two straight podiums and having six straight podiums at Barber, it’s a safe bet Dixon will be sipping a cold Coca-Cola on the podium this Sunday afternoon.
